Hobart Hurricanes have been a curious case for the Sixers. Despite not having an overall great record in the BBL, the Hurricanes have troubled the Sixers over the years. The Sydney Sixers have been one of the successful franchises in the BBL. After winning the opening BBL season in 2011, they could not get their hand on the trophy again until BBL|9 despite reaching the finals 2 more times – in BBL|4 and BBL|6.
However, that changes in 2019 and 2020 as Sydney Sixers managed to win the successive title with a pretty solid squad. This year in BBL|11, the team will play under the leadership of Moises Henriques – who is one of their key players – and coach Greg Shipperd.
The current squad has as many as 6 all-rounders and many of who are bowling allrounders except for the likes of captain Henriques. Tom Curran missed the last season, but is now back and seems eager to perform.
Pacer Chris Jordan – called as a late replacement of Carlos Brathwaite who withdrew due to injury – and batter James Vince are the other two away members of the squad.
Vince along with Josh Phillipe and Moises Henriques are the power hitters of this team whose batting will revolve around the likes of Daniel Huges and Jordan Silk. They have veteran Daniel Christian lower down the order to finish the innings for Sydney Sixers.
The defending champions have assembled a good team and seem to have ticked all the boxes for a perfect squad. It will be interesting to see if these players help the Sixers make it three times in a row.

Tom Curran – He is an important away player for Sydney Sixers. He replaced Sam Curran in the England squad earlier this year for the T20 World Cup but couldn’t get a game. That won’t be the case with Sydney Sixers as Tom averages 24.46 in batting and an amazing 19.61 with the ball. Hard to keep such a player out of the playing XI.
The Sydney Sixer Women’s BBL franchise has been part of the WBBL since the first season. Like the men’s team, the Women’s team has had a good record in WBBL history. They are the only women franchise to have a more than 60% win rate in WBBL. They will feel the absence of the superb all-rounder Marizanne Kapp who moved to the Scorchers Women team this season.
The Sixers Women have reached the finals 4 times – the most final appearances in WBBL – and won the BBL 2 times – joint most with the Heat Women and Thunder Women. They are one of the only 3 women BBL franchises to have won the WBBL trophy.
The 4 appearances in the finals by the Sixers Women team is the most in WBBL.
