Sydney Sixers have a decent record against the Stars with 9 wins in 16 head-to-head games so far in the BBL. The Sixers won both the games against the Stars in the last season. They play the Hurricanes next in away and home matches followed by playing the Melbourne Stars away from home .

Hobart Hurricanes have been a curious case for the Sixers. Despite not having an overall great record in the BBL, the Hurricanes have troubled the Sixers over the years. The Sixers have won just 5 matches out of the 14 they have played against Hurricanes. The Sixers lost both the matches against Hurricanes in the last season.

Apart from Scorchers, which is a champion team, the hurricanes in the only team against whom the Sixers have lost more matches than they have won. The Sixers’ next four encounters are against 4 different oppositions, namely, Adelaide Strikers (64% wins), Sydney Thunder (63% wins), Brisbane Heat (79% wins), Melbourne Renegades (64% wins), in that order.

Sydney Sixers have won more than 55% matches against every franchise except Hurricanes and Scorchers.

Fun88 Betting

The Sixers have an excellent record against all these oppositions with the best record against Brisbane Heat winning 79% of the matches with 11 wins in 14 games and just 3 losses. This middle portion of the tournament is where the Sixers would like to capitalize.

The Sixers play their arch-rivals Scorchers in January 2022 in consecutive games, home and away. In the 20 encounters so far, the Sixers have lost 11 to the Scorchers. In the last season, the Sixers lost 1 and won 2 games against the Scorchers including the finals.

If the Sixers can improve their performances against Hurricanes and Scorchers and continue the dominance over the other franchises, they are likely to get another BBL trophy this time in BBL|11 .

Sydney Sixers Team

The Sydney Sixers have been one of the successful franchises in the BBL. After winning the opening BBL season in 2011, they could not get their hand on the trophy again until BBL|9 despite reaching the finals 2 more times – in BBL|4 and BBL|6.

However, that changes in 2019 and 2020 as Sydney Sixers managed to win the successive title with a pretty solid squad. This year in BBL|11, the team will play under the leadership of Moises Henriques – who is one of their key players – and coach Greg Shipperd.

The current squad has as many as 6 all-rounders and many of who are bowling allrounders except for the likes of captain Henriques. Tom Curran missed the last season, but is now back and seems eager to perform.

Pacer Chris Jordan – called as a late replacement of Carlos Brathwaite who withdrew due to injury – and batter James Vince are the other two away members of the squad.

Vince along with Josh Phillipe and Moises Henriques are the power hitters of this team whose batting will revolve around the likes of Daniel Huges and Jordan Silk. They have veteran Daniel Christian lower down the order to finish the innings for Sydney Sixers.

The defending champions have assembled a good team and seem to have ticked all the boxes for a perfect squad. It will be interesting to see if these players help the Sixers make it three times in a row.

Sydney Sixers Players

The Sydney Sixers squad assembled for BBL|11 season is highly skilled and experienced and will be expected to shoulder key responsibilities in designated departments. They have quite a few important players in the setup this season, and it will be interesting to see how captain Moises Henriques marshals this squad towards to championship of BBL|11.

Some of the key players for Sydney Sixers in BBL|11 are as follows:

Moises Henriques – Captain and all-rounder Moises Henriques is the one of the most important players for the sixers. He has scored more runs for the Sixers compared to any designated batters. Henriques has 1900 runs in BBL so far in 83 innings at an average of close to 28 and a strike rate of above 130. He also has 18 wickets in BBL.

Sean Abbott – Sean Abbott is of the most important bowlers in BBL history. He is the highest wicket-taker for Sydney Sixers with 106 wickets in 80 innings with an average of close to 20 and a strike rate of under 15. He is a handy batsman down the order.

Steve O’Keefe – The left-arm spinner is has been a crucial cog in the Sydney Sixers’ setup. He is one of the most consistent bowlers in BBL. Steve has taken 67 wickets in 70 innings at an average of 24.39 and a strike rate of 21.75 with an amazing economy of 6.73. He has the fourth-lowest economy among the players with more than 50 BBL appearances.

Tom Curran – He is an important away player for Sydney Sixers. He replaced Sam Curran in the England squad earlier this year for the T20 World Cup but couldn’t get a game. That won’t be the case with Sydney Sixers as Tom averages 24.46 in batting and an amazing 19.61 with the ball. Hard to keep such a player out of the playing XI.

Sydney Sixer WBBL

The Sydney Sixer Women’s BBL franchise has been part of the WBBL since the first season. Like the men’s team, the Women’s team has had a good record in WBBL history. They are the only women franchise to have a more than 60% win rate in WBBL. They will feel the absence of the superb all-rounder Marizanne Kapp who moved to the Scorchers Women team this season.

The Sixers Women have reached the finals 4 times – the most final appearances in WBBL – and won the BBL 2 times – joint most with the Heat Women and Thunder Women. They are one of the only 3 women BBL franchises to have won the WBBL trophy.

The 4 appearances in the finals by the Sixers Women team is the most in WBBL.
