PBKS’ upcoming matches include two matches each against Delhi Capitals (DC), and the fellow group members – CSK, RCB, GT, and SRH. They will play one match against each of the teams from Group A – Mumbai Indians (MI), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
PBKS supporters must be excited to see their team playing against their rivals like KKR, MI, CSK. They will encounter KKR on 1 April at 19:30 IST, and MI on 13 April at 19:30 IST. Don’t miss their two clashes with CSK on 3 April and 25 April, both at 19:30 IST.
Let’s briefly review PBKS matches and their overall results in the last three IPL seasons. Starting IPL 2019 till the last match of the IPL 2021, PBKS played 42 matches, out of which they won 18, but lost 24 games. They had a success ratio of 42.85%.

They played all their 2019 matches in India, but the next year the entire IPL was shifted to the UAE due to the COVID-19 outbreak in India. In 2021, the IPL was shifted to the UAE before partially being conducted in India because of the strong second wave of COVID-19.
PBKS failed to qualify for the playoff in the past three seasons, in fact, they never made it to the top-four in the last 7 years.
PBKS played 14 matches in IPL 2019, out of which they won 6 and lost 8. Losing four out of the last five group-stage games cost them heavily as they failed to make it to the next round. They had defeated RR in both home and away games, though their key wins include the ones against MI and CSK.
PBKS defeated MI in the home game, by successfully chasing down the target of 177. For their eight-wicket victory, the credit goes to the openers KL Rahul (71 runs from 57 balls), Chris Gayle (40 runs from just 24 balls, four sixes).
Mayank Agarwal was brilliant for his 21-balls 43. In another home game against CSK, Sam Curran’s 3 wickets restricted the opponents to 170, and KL Rahul once again played a top knock of 71 runs from just 36 balls to outclass the mighty CSK.
Again in 2020, PBKS played 14 matches, won 6, lost 8 and finished sixth in the points table. They were involved in a couple of tied matches. Their very first game of the season was against DC, which they lost in the Super Overs. Again they tied against magnificent MI, but this time the result was in the favour of PBKS. KL Rahul seemed to just love the scores in the 70s.
Punjab Kings have qualified for playoffs only twice in 2008 and 2014.

His 71 from 51 had helped the side to level the score of 176 in 20 overs. This IPL match had two sets of Super Overs. In the first tied Super Overs, both the sides scored just 5 runs. In the second and the final Super Over, Kings made 15 in just 4 balls as Gayle hit a sixer off the first ball and Mayank Agarwal smashed a couple of boundaries in response to MI’s 11. KL Rahul was the orange cap holder that year for his 670 runs, including 5 half-centuries and one century.
It was again 6 wins, 8 losses and sixth place for PBKS in IPL 2021. Though, they had started with a bang, winning their first match against RR after scoring a mammoth score of 221 runs. KL Rahul had once again excelled at the top, with his 91 runs from 50 balls. Also, Chris Gayle (40 from 28 balls) and Deepak Hooda (64 from 28 balls) smashed RR bowlers all over the park.
Though the opponents, especially Sanju Samson (119 runs) gave a fitting reply, PBKS managed to pull off the victory with a narrow margin of 4 runs. They participated in another thriller, against RR, but lost it by just 2 runs. In response to RR’s 185 runs, the top four PBKS batsmen – KL Rahul (49 off 33) Agarwal (67 off 43), Aiden Markram (26 off 20) and Nicholas Pooran (32 off 22) – played fine innings but PBKS fell short of just two runs in the end.
