Match Prediction – AS vs MR, 6th Match BBL 2021/22 – Who Will Win Today’s Match?
Adelaide Strikers will take on Melbourne Renegades in the sixth match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2021. The two teams met recently on December 7 where Renegades came out on top.
Melbourne Renegades might’ve finished at the bottom of the table in Big Bash League last season while Adelaide Strikers qualified for the playoffs, the new season also brings with it a clean slate and that’s exactly what happened between the two sides on December 7.
Led by Mackenzie Harvey’s 46-ball 56, Renegades posted 153 runs on the board as George Garton proved to be the most successful bowler for Adelaide Strikers. However, a stupendous bowling effort led by Man of the Match Zahir Khan, who registered a spell of 3/24, helped Renegades win by the tightest of margins (2 runs).
While Adelaide Strikers hold the head-to-head superiority, Renegades’ recent win will boost the team’s morale. They’ll be hoping to complete the double over Adelaide Strikers with a win away from home as well.
Head-to-head record
Wins: Melbourne Renegades 6, Adelaide Strikers 9
Last 5 matches: Melbourne Renegades 2, Adelaide Strikers 3

Who will win today’s match?
Melbourne Renegades might have the wind blowing in their sails but Adelaide Strikers will be out for revenge in the reverse fixture. Peter Siddle might’ve picked up three wickets last time around but he also conceded 42 runs in his four-over spell and Strikers will expect their captain to bowl more responsibly this time around.
They will also have more hopes from star man Rashid Khan who failed to impress much in the first game. George Garton’s performance with the ball was also positive and Strikers will feel that they will have a better chance to win at home where they won five of their eight matches last season.
For the home side, Liam O’Connor will replace Ryan Gibson who’s out with a hamstring problem for this game.
Following the nail-biting two-run win over Adelaide Strikers, Melbourne Renegades have named an unchanged XI for their return trip to Adelaide. Jack Prestwidge, Mitch Perry and Zak Evans join the extended squad. Aaron Finch continues his recovery from knee injury while Cameron Boyce is unavailable for this game because of a calf issue.
English bowler George Garton seems to be settling in well at Adelaide Strikers and he’ll hope to repeat or better his performance from the first game. The likes of Matt Short and Jake Weatherald will need to show more impetus with the bat. The lack of initiative was completely missing from the batting unit last time around.
Reece Topley conceded 43 runs but Man of the Match winner Zahir Khan and captain Kane Richardson’s spells with the ball got the job done for Melbourne Renegades as they defended a low total successfully. Sam Harper and Mackenzie Harvey will have to share responsibilities in the batting unit once again in the absence of senior figures. Harvey scored a fifty in the first game.
Game changers for Melbourne Renegades v Adelaide Strikers
At the Adelaide Oval, all eyes will be on the battle between Afghan teammates Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi. They both hold significant value as star all-rounders in their respective teams and would like to one-up each other here.
Who will be the best match bowler?
Rashid Khan has been the backbone of the Adelaide Strikers for a long time now. Although he failed to make much of an impact in the first game with a spell of 1/30, one can never take him for granted. Rashid Khan had a great campaign last season as well. He had picked up 16 wickets in just 10 matches at an economy rate of 6.87!
Who will win today’s man of the match?
Rashid Khan of Adelaide Strikers and Mohammad Nabi of Melbourne Renegades are likely to be the top contenders for the Man of the Match award in this game.
Who will be the best batsman for Melbourne Renegades?
If Melbourne Renegades end up losing early wickets, Mohammad Nabi is likely to take the initiative in the middle-order for his team. With an unbeaten knock of 71 runs, he top-scored in Renegades’ victory over Strikers in Adelaide last season as well.
Who will be the best batsman for Adelaide Strikers?
Plenty will be expected from Jake Weatherald who folded for just 18 runs in the previous game. Weatherald had a strong campaign in BBL 2020-21 where he had scored 433 runs from 15 matches at an average of 36.08. He also had a strike rate of 141.04 which could prove to be difficult for the opposition bowlers to handle!
