Match Prediction – AS vs PS, 49th Match BBL 2021/22 – Who Will Win Today’s Match?
Adelaide Strikers will be up against Perth Scorchers in the 49
th
match of the Big Bash League 2021. This fixture is as big a mismatch as it gets with both the sides being at the opposite ends of the BBL11 table.
Adelaide Strikers haven’t managed to impress at all this season. Their players have lacked chemistry and their performances have been devoid of resolve. Strikers have won just two matches all season and are rooted to the bottom of the table.
They did get a fantastic morale-boosting win in their last match however. Against Brisbane Heat, Adelaide Strikers ran rampant with the ball. Star spinner Rashid Khan was back to his very best and his six-wicket haul helped the Strikers register a mammoth 71-run win over Heat. Adelaide Strikers will be looking for more of the same against the table-toppers but it’s easier said than done.
Perth Scorchers have been no less than a juggernaut in the Big Bash League this season. They’ve blown away any and every opposition in their path and after 12 matches, they have only lost twice. More than the victories, it is the manner in which Scorchers have completely outplayed their opponents which suggests that they are among the favourites for the title this season.
Perth Scorchers have won four of their last five games. They defeated Sydney Sixers by five wickets and Melbourne Stars by 47 runs recently. They’ve already faced Adelaide Strikers once this season. On that occasion, Scorchers managed to secure a handsome 49-run win with Colin Munro scoring a fine unbeaten century. They are the favourites to secure another win here and extend their lead at the top of the table.
The head-to-head record between the two teams is pretty close actually. Scorchers’ victory earlier this season took them past Adelaide Strikers as they’ve won 10 matches compared to Strikers’ nine wins. Perth Scorchers have also won the last two fixtures between the two teams but Adelaide Strikers won three matches on the trot prior to that.

Who will win today’s match – Adelaide Strikers vs Perth Scorchers, 49th Match BBL 2021/22?
Perth Scorchers are the overwhelming favourites for this match. They’ve been on a different level compared to any other team in the league and have discovered a wonderful winning rhythm. Adelaide Strikers, on the other hand, have mostly been woeful and despite their recent heroics against Brisbane Heat, they appear to be completely outmatched in this contest.
Adelaide Strikers have announced a 15-man squad to host Perth Scorchers. Ian Cockbain has signed on for the remainder of the BBL11 season and joins the extended Strikers squad. Rashid Khan’s BBL11 adventure has come to an end following the high of the previous game. He will now leave the country because of national commitments. Wes Agar has a side strain while Matt Renshaw continues to be unavailable after testing positive for COVID-19.
Perth Scorchers are yet to announced their squad for the clash against Adelaide Strikers at the time of writing. Cameron Bancroft missed the encounter against Melbourne Stars as he had to go into isolation after coming in close contact with someone who tested COVID positive. Colin Munro, who managed a century in the previous meeting with Adelaide Strikers, is also out because of COVID.
Perth Scorchers look like the most balanced team in the Big Bash League this season. Their openers, top order, middle order, pace bowling and spin bowling unit look to be in sync and have gotten the job done.
The Adelaide Strikers bowling unit will have to cope with the loss of Rashid Khan. It remains to be seen whether they can square up to the Scorchers juggernaut.
Game changers for Adelaide Strikers vs Perth Scorchers, 49th Match BBL 2021/22
As far as Adelaide Strikers are concerned, plenty will depend on Jonathan Wells and his day with the bat. Peter Siddle is also expected to have a major say in the absence of Rashid Khan and he has been among the best players for Adelaide Strikers in BBL this season.
For Perth Scorchers, Kurtis Patterson’s form with the bat has made sure that they don’t miss Colin Munro too much. Ashton Turner has also played some fine knocks while the likes of Matthew Kelly, Ashton Agar and Andrew Tye are always difficult to deal with.
Who will be the best match bowler?
Andrew Tye has had an amazing Big Bash League season so far. He’s second in the list of highest wicket-takers and a couple of wickets in this game will help him go past Rashid Khan at the top of the standings. Tye has picked up 19 wickets at an average of 16.94.
Who will win today’s man of the match?
Kurtis Patterson has been in fine form with the bat and he is likely to be at his best once again. Andrew Tye can also wreak havoc with the ball and is expected to be a contender for the Man of the Match.
Who will be the best batsman for Adelaide Strikers?
Matt Short has been among the best batters for Adelaide Strikers this season. He has amassed 292 runs in 11 matches at an average of 29.20. Short has a wonderful strike rate of 156.98 and he has scored two half-centuries this season.
Who will be the best batsman for Perth Scorchers?
Kurtis Patterson has stepped up his game in the absence of captain Colin Munro. He has scored 275 runs so far at an average of 30.55. Patterson has a strike rate of 143.97 and has accumulated three half-centuries.
