Match Prediction – HH vs MS, 19th Match BBL 2021/22 – Who Will Win Today’s Match?
Hobart Hurricanes will take on Melbourne Stars in the 19
th
match of the Big Bash League 2021. Both teams are next to each other in the BBL table and will look to climb upwards.
Hobart Hurricanes haven’t managed to get going in the Big Bash League just yet. Having played four games, they’ve won just once. That win arrived in a rain-interrupted encounter with Sydney Sixers where D/L method was enforced. But to be fair to the Hurricanes, all of their four matches so far have come against the top two sides in the tournament Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers who have been on a whole another level. Hurricanes’ batting unit is yet to get into top gear this season.
With one win and six points, Hurricanes are sixth in the table. They are a point behind their opponents in this game Melbourne Stars. Hobart Hurricanes also have a Net Run Rate of -0.833 that will need improving.
Melbourne Stars, on the other hand, have played four games and have won half of them. Those two wins against Sydney Thunder were sandwiched between losses to defending champions Sydney Sixers, including the 152-run hammering in the season opener. Melbourne Stars have a fearsome heavy-hitting batting order comprising Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Andre Russell and Hilton Cartwright and they will be looking to capitalize on that.
With two wins and seven points, Stars are fifth in the table. Their NRR of -1.643 too, needs improving.
As far as the head-to-head record is concerned, Melbourne Stars are head and shoulders ahead of their opponents. Stars have won 10 games while Hurricanes have won only on five occasions. Melbourne Stars have also enjoyed a better time recently with four wins in their last five matches against Hobart Hurricanes.

Who will win today’s match?
Both Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Stars have played a significant number of their game so far this season against the two best teams in the Big Bash League. As a result, first impressions are skewed negatively.
However, one can expect Melbourne Stars to start firing in on all cylinders. They have an enviable power-hitting arsenal of batters who can change the course of the game single-handedly. They also have experienced bowlers in Nathan Coulter Nile and Adam Zampa who are well capable of defending totals.
Riley Meredith and Mitch Owen have returned to the Hobart Hurricanes squad after previously being unavailable due to injury. Scott Boland has been called up to Australia’s extended squad for the Ashes while Joel Paris has suffered a groin injury.
Melbourne Stars will be looking to make the most of Andre Russell’s inclusion who will be with the team with only for a few more games. Russell had been signed on a short-term deal and he will hope to steer the team in the right direction before departing.
Both Colin Munro and Mitchell Marsh have collected centuries in the Big Bash League this season already. In Marsh, Scorchers have one of the most in-form white-ball allrounders in the world. The likes of Andrew Tye and Tymal Mills have also troubled opposition batters.
Sam Harper has been the most reliable player for Adelaide Strikers this season. The return of Aaron Finch is expected to rejuvenate the batting order. It will be interesting to see who makes way in order to accommodate Finch in the starting XI.
Game changers for Hobart Hurricanes vs Melbourne Stars, 19th Match BBL 2021/22
Hobart Hurricanes will need to make improvements across all departments following their drubbings against Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers. The Hurricanes’ struggle with the bat has been well documented and the likes of Nathan Coulter Nile and Adam Zampa will be looking to exploit those weaknesses.
Although Melbourne Stars ended up losing their last match against Sydney Sixers, they showed enough to suggest that they are on the right track. Having players like Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Andre Russell and Adam Zampa is a privilege and Stars will be looking to make that count going ahead.
Who will be the best match bowler?
Although Adam Zampa is yet to achieve peak form in BBL11, one can hardly bet against him. Zampa is a sensational bowler in the shortest format of the game and his 90 wickets in 79 BBL matches suggest exactly that. Even in games where he doesn’t get wickets, Zampa helps in keeping things tight with a disciplined economy rate.
Who will win today’s man of the match?
Glenn Maxwell was back to his very best in the most recent encounter against Sydney Sixers. Although he failed to snatch a win for Melbourne Stars, his innings was massive takeaway for the team. One can also expect Marcus Stoinis and Andre Russell to be among the contenders for Man of the Match.
Who will be the best batsman for Hobart Hurricanes?
Matthew Wade has been in great form lately and is expected to provide explosive starts at the top of the order. The hero of Australia’s semi-final win over Pakistan was the Player of the Match in their only win so far this season against Sydney Sixers.
Who will be the best batsman for Melbourne Stars?
Glenn Maxwell is arriving into this game after scoring a sensational century in the last match. The Big Show accumulated 103 runs in just 57 deliveries and his knock included 12 fours and 3 sixes! Maxwell is likely to be at his best here as well.
