Match Prediction – HH vs SS, 4th Match BBL 2021/22 – Who Will Win Today’s Match?
Hobart Hurricanes will go head-to-head with Sydney Sixers in the fourth match of the Big Bash League (BBL). While one team missed out on the playoffs last season, the other managed to go all the way and win the trophy.
Hobart Hurricanes narrowly missed the playoff spots in Big Bash League 2020/21. Having played 14 matches, they managed to register victories in half of their games. With 28 points, they were level on points with Adelaide Strikers but missed out on qualification because of the Net Run Rate factor. They’ve made some smart recruitments this time around and will be hoping to begin their campaign on the front foot.
Sydney Sixers, meanwhile, were fantastic from start to finish last season. They finished the league stage on top of the table with nine victories from 14 games. Sixers went on to win the trophy and the defending champions have gotten off to a perfect start in this season of the BBL as well. They absolutely thrashed Melbourne Stars by 152 runs in the opening game and will be hoping to continue with the same winning mindset.
As far as the head-to-head record is concerned, Hobart Hurricanes have come out on top on more occasions. Despite their phenomenal streak last season, Sydney Sixers lost both their matches against the Hurricanes. This could prove to be yet another interesting encounter.
Head-to-head record
Wins: Hobart Hurricanes 8, Sydney Sixers 5
Last 5 matches: Hobart Hurricanes 3, Sydney Sixers 1

Who will win today’s match?
Hobart Hurricanes might’ve gotten the better of Sydney Sixers in recent matches in the BBL but the reigning champions look untouchable at the moment. That was evident in the first match where they went on to thrash Melbourne Stars. While the Hurricanes are capable of causing surprises, one can expect the Sixers to win this game.
Team News Hobart Hurricanes vs Sydney Sixers, 4th Match BBL 2021/22
English signings Jordan Thompson and Harry Brook will be unavailable for selection in this game for Hobart Hurricanes. Pace bowler Scott Boland has also been replaced by local spin bowler Tom Andrews. Ben McDermott will also be missed in this game because of a groin injury.
For Sydney Sixers, the availability of Dan Christian and Sean Abbott will be decided on the morning of the match. Christian became a father recently while Abbott is also expecting the birth of his first child. Meanwhile, Ben Dwarshuis continues to recover from a strain.
Hobart Hurricanes made some smart recruitments after missing out on playoffs last season. They brought in all-rounder Tim David to complement Sandeep Lamichhane. Captain Matthew Wade and D’Arcy Short will hope to be a formidable duo once again. Meanwhile, Nathan Ellis will also carry responsibilities in the bowling unit.
Josh Phillippe, James Vince and Moises Henriques were phenomenal for Sydney Sixers in the opening game. Between them, they scored 203 of the team’s 213 runs. Steve O’Keefe was astonishing with the ball in hand breaking down the Melbourne Stars resistance. If Sean Abbott, who picked up three wickets against Melbourne Stars, doesn’t start this match, the responsibilities will lie with Tom Curran and Chris Jordan.
Josh Phillippe has been nothing short of incredible for his side. All eyes will be on him once again as he’d love to continue with the same momentum. Steve O’Keefe also has plenty of experience and was instrumental for Sixers in the opening match.
Who will be the best match bowler?
Steve O’Keefe was the star with the ball in the first match. He picked up four wickets for just 14 runs. The Launceston track is also known to favour spinners and he’ll be looking to add a few more victims here.
Who will win today’s man of the match?
Matthew Wade of Hobart Hurricanes and Josh Phillippe of Sydney Sixers could prove to be the contenders for the Man of the Match award.
Who will be the best batsman for Hobart Hurricanes?
Matthew Wade’s heroics in the T20 World Cup semi-final against Pakistan hasn’t been forgotten that easily. Wade played just three matches in BBL 10 and had a strike rate of 187.50.
Who will be the best batsman for Sydney Sixers?
Josh Phillippe announced himself to the league once again this season with a fiery knock in the first match against Melbourne Stars. He scored 83 off just 47 deliveries and his innings included eight boundaries and three sixes.
