Match Pakistan Super League 20222021/22
Islamabad United will collide with Multan Sultans in the eighth match of the Pakistan Super League. Defending champions Multan Sultans have begun their campaign on a strong note and have won both their opening fixtures. Islamabad United also secured an overwhelming victory in their very first match this season.
Islamabad United were spectacular in the opening match against Peshawar Zalmi. Hasan Ali and Faheem Ashraf bowled fabulously but a late flourish from Sherfane Rutherford, who remained unbeaten on 70 from 46, saw Islamabad United getting to a competitive total of 168.
However, Islamabad’s opening batters Alex Hales and Paul Stirling made light work of the run-chase. They stitched a breathtaking 110+ run-stand inside the first 10 overs to get their tails up. Stirling smacked a quick-fire 57 at a strike rate of 228 but Rahmanullah Gurbaz arrived at the crease following his dismissal. Along with Hales, he ensured that no further wickets fell as Islamabad United marched to a win inside 16 overs. Alex Hales finished the night on 82 not out.
Defending champions Multan Sultans, meanwhile, haven’t put a foot wrong and couldn’t have asked for a better start to their PSL campaign this season. It didn’t take them long to find their stride and they defeated Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars in the opening two games of PSL 2022. Sultans were under tremendous pressure while chasing a massive score in the most recent match against Qalandars but they managed to keep their nerves and a sensational finish from Khushdil Shah in the final over ensured back-to-back wins for the side.
Multan Sultans’ bowling unit conceded too many runs in that game as Fakhar Zaman (76 off 35) took them to the sword. They ended up conceding 206 which made for a pretty challenging run-chase. Shan Masood and Mohammad Rizwan began the attempt on a positive note and notched up terrific half-centuries at the top of the order. Although Sultans got hit by a batting collapse following their dismissals, Khushdil Shah stepped up dramatically and smacked 16 runs in the last over to win the match!
As far as the historical record is concerned between the two sides, Islamabad United hold a marginal advantage over their opponents. The side from the captain have five wins to their name while Multan Sultans have won four games.

th
Match Pakistan Super League 2022?
Multan Sultans seem to be the favourites heading into this match. They have got into their groove pretty early and the defending champions seem to have picked up from right where they left off. The recent win against Lahore Qalandars demonstrated exactly why they are defending champions. That match took a lot of persistence and grit and determination and the win would’ve been a massive morale boost for the entire camp.
With that being said, Islamabad United are no pushovers. The likes of Paul Stirling, Alex Hales and Rahmanullah Gurbaz showed their intent right off the bat against Peshawar Zalmi. The bowling unit was also disciplined in that game and this could prove to be an exciting and interesting contest.
