Match Prediction – MR vs AS, 3rd Match BBL 2021/22 – Who Will Win Today’s Match?
Melbourne Renegades will collide with Adelaide Strikers in the third match of the Big Bash League (BBL). The two sides had quite contrasting campaigns last season.
Melbourne Renegades were extremely underwhelming last time around. They managed just four victories in 14 matches and as a result, finished at the bottom of the table. This was the second time in as many seasons that Renegades finished last in the Big Bash League and a change was long overdue. Nic Maddinson has been appointed as the new captain of the team as they hope to finish higher up in the table.
Adelaide Strikers, on the other hand, finished in fifth position last season. They managed to secure a playoffs berth but were unfortunately defeated by Brisbane Heat in the Eliminator. Progressing to the playoffs would be on top of their priority list this season as well but Strikers would want to go even further and get their hands on the trophy.
As far as the head-to-head record is concerned, Adelaide Strikers hold the superiority. They have won nine games while Melbourne Renegades have won five. Among those nine victories for Adelaide Strikers, four have arrived in the last five matches.

Who will win today’s match?
Melbourne Renegades might’ve had a horrible campaign last season but they look like a well-balanced squad on paper this time around. Adelaide Strikers are also missing a few key players due to international duty. Therefore, it won’t be surprising to see Melbourne Renegades beginning their campaign with a win over Adelaide Strikers.
Team News
Melbourne Renegades will miss newly appointed skipper Nic Maddinson who is away on Australia A duty. Former captain Aaron Finch is recovering from a knee injury while veteran Shaun Marsh is also struggling with a calf tear. Kane Richardson is set to lead the Renegades in the absence of Maddinson.
For Adelaide Strikers, captain Travis Head and vice-captain Alex Carey will be busy with national duties and Peter Siddle will lead them in their absence. Daniel Drew and Thomas Kelly have been named as local replacements for the pair.
While Melbourne Renegades have a strong batting lineup, the likes of Sam Harper and Unmukt Chand will need to step up in the absence of Shaun Marsh and Aaron Finch who are two of the destructive batters in the league. James Pattinson and Kane Richardson hold plenty of experience and their fast-bowling could prove to be crucial for the side. Afghan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi might play a key part this season.
For Adelaide Strikers, Jake Weatherald, Jon Wells and Matthew Short would want to leave their mark in the absence of Head and Carey. Peter Siddle and Wes Agar are seasoned campaigners and Rashid Khan will look to provide the X-factor here.
Jake Weatherald was the standout batter for Adelaide Strikers in Big Bash League last season and he’d love to begin his campaign on a strong note. Rashid Khan is among the best T20 players in the world and he will be the player to keep an eye out for with the ball.
Who will be the best match bowler?
Rashid Khan has been the backbone of the Adelaide Strikers for a long time now. He’s probably the most sought-after bowler in T20 franchise fun88. Rashid Khan had a great campaign last season as well. He had picked up 16 wickets in just 10 matches at an economy rate of 6.87!
Who will win today’s man of the match?
Rashid Khan of Adelaide Strikers and Sam Harper of Melbourne Renegades are likely to be the top contenders for the Man of the Match award in this game.
Who will be the best batsman for Melbourne Renegades?
Sam Harper has plenty of experience in the BBL and is a key member of the Melbourne Renegades team. Harper has accumulated 981 runs in 47 matches and he has a strike rate of 134.38.
Who will be the best batsman for Adelaide Strikers?
Jake Weatherald could open the batting here for Adelaide Strikers. Weatherald had a strong campaign in BBL 2020-21 where he had scored 433 runs from 15 matches at an average of 36.08. He also had a strike rate of 141.04 which could prove to be difficult for the opposition bowlers to handle!
