Team Lineup
Match Prediction – MS vs ST, 7th Match BBL 2021/22 – Who Will Win Today’s Match?
Melbourne Stars will be up against Sydney Thunder in the seventh match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2021. This will be the second match of the tournament for both sides.
Melbourne Stars couldn’t have gotten off to a worse possible start. They were absolutely dismantled in the first game against Sydney Sixers and ended up losing by a gigantic margin of 152 runs. Led by Josh Phillippe and Moises Henriques, Sixers posted 213 runs on the board. For Melbourne Stars, the batting department was a complete no-show as only Peter Nevill and Hilton Cartwright managed to get into double digits. Stars are rooted to the bottom of the table with a horrible Net Run Rate of -7.60.
Sydney Thunder have begun their BBL 11 campaign on the front foot. They took on Brisbane Heat in the opening contest and emerged victorious by a margin of seven wickets. Despite Ben Duckett and Sam Heazlett’s resistance, Thunder restricted Heat to a score of 140. Daniel Sams and Gurinder Sandhu had good outings with the ball while Sam Billings and Alex Ross led the run-chase. The duo remained unbeaten and secured a win inside 18 overs for Sydney Thunder.
The head-to-head battle between the two teams is actually a pretty close contest. Melbourne Stars have won eight matches while Sydney Thunder have won seven games. Melbourne Stars have also enjoyed a better time in the last five matches.
Head-to-head record
Wins: Melbourne Stars 8, Sydney Thunder 7
Last 5 matches: Melbourne Stars 4, Sydney Thunder 1

Who will win today’s match?
Although Melbourne Stars have a better head-to-head record and have also been dominant against Sydney Thunder recently, their opening game performance against the defending champions Sydney Sixers was simply inexplicable. They didn’t show urgency in any of the three departments and they could well be on their backfoot here. Sydney Thunder will be high on morale following their win against Brisbane Heat and would love to blow away Melbourne Stars in this game.
Following the opening match-drubbing against Sydney Sixers, Melbourne Stars were quick to replenish and reinforce their squad. They’ve signed Andre Russell and Haris Rauf recently and it remains to be seen whether they participate in this game.
Sydney Thunder are likely to retain the same squad that took on Brisbane Heat earlier in the campaign.
It’s quite obvious that Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa will be the key players for Melbourne Stars in this game as well. Maxwell and Zampa didn’t have memorable outing in the opening match and will have to shoulder more responsibility here.
Sydney Thunder ended with a comfortable victory against Brisbane Heat. Alex Hales, Sam Billings and Ben Cutting are going to be key here as well.
Game changers for Melbourne Stars v Sydney Thunder
Glenn Maxwell is one of the most destructive batters in the world especially in the shortest format of the sport. He also adds a lot of value with the ball. Sam Billings performed well in the previous match and he’s likely to be at his best here as well.
Who will be the best match bowler?
Star spinner Adam Zampa was a crucial member of the Australian team that won the T20 World Cup last month. Zampa might’ve gone wicketless and conceded 34 runs in the season opener, but there can be little doubts surrounding his talent and ability.
Adam Zampa @3.00
Best Melbourne Bowler
Who will win today’s man of the match?
Adam Zampa, Glenn Maxwell and Sam Billings are the most likely candidates to win the Man of the Match award.
Who will be the best batsman for Melbourne Stars?
Glenn Maxwell is a giant of T20 fun88 and is one of the greatest short-format all-rounders in the world. Maxwell scored 379 runs at a strike rate of 143.56 last season. He had also picked up seven wickets and had a healthy economy rate of 7.66.
Who will be the best batsman for Sydney Thunder?
Alex Hales might’ve gotten off to a duck in the last game. However, Melbourne Stars will be foolish to take him lightly here. Hales can take on bowlers from the word go and his aggression and ability to play big knocks make him a terrific asset.
