Match Prediction – Quetta Gladiators vs Multan Sultans, 7
th
Match Pakistan Super League 2021/22
Quetta Gladiators will take on Multan Sultans in the seventh match of the Pakistan Super League. While defending champions Multan Sultans have begun their campaign on the front foot and are on a two-game winning run, Quetta Gladiators suffered a defeat in their PSL 2022 season opener.
Quetta Gladiators were on the receiving end of a jarring final over loss against Peshawar Zalmi. Ahsan Ali and Will Smeed were outrageous with the bat for Gladiators and even though Smeed missed his debut T20 century by just three runs, his knock helped the side post a fabulous total of 190/4.
Gladiators needed to defend 26 runs off the final two overs but experienced bowler James Faulkner lost his bearings and conceded 22 runs in the penultimate over. This left Quetta Gladiators defenseless and Peshawar Zalmi raced to a win with just two balls left in the final over. Shoaib Malik, Hussain Talat and Yasir Khan all played important roles with the bat for the opposition. Quetta Gladiators have another match scheduled against Karachi Kings prior to this fixture.
Defending champions Multan Sultans couldn’t have asked for a better start to their PSL campaign this year. It didn’t take them long to impose their authority and they defeated Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars in the opening two matches this season. Sultans were under tremendous pressure while chasing a massive score in the match against Qalandars but they managed to keep their wits and a sensational finish from Khushdil Shah ensured back-to-back wins for the side.
Multan Sultans bowling unit conceded runs aplenty as Fakhar Zaman (76 off 35) took them to the sword. They ended up conceding 206 which made for a challenging run-chase. Shan Masood and Mohammad Rizwan offered life to the attempt following terrific half-centuries at the top of the order. Although Sultans got hit by a batting collapse following their dismissals, Khushdil Shah stepped up dramatically and smacked 16 runs in the last over!
The defending champions are now on top of the table following two wins in two games. They have a strong net run rate of +0.566.
As far as the historical record is concerned between the two sides, Quetta Gladiators have been only marginally successful with four wins while Multan Sultans have won three games. Both sides had won a game each last season.

Who will win today’s match – Quetta Gladiators vs Multan Sultans, 7
th
Match Pakistan Super League 2022?
Multan Sultans are undoubtedly the favourites to win this clash. They have got into their groove pretty early and the defending champions seem to have picked up from right where they left off. The opening day win over Karachi Kings was routine and straightforward but the thrilling victory against Lahore Qalandars showed exactly why they are defending champions. That match took a lot of persistence and grit and resolution and the win would’ve been a massive morale boost for the entire camp.
On the other hand, Quetta Gladiators will be extremely unhappy with the way they threw the game away against Peshawar Zalmi. They will be the underdogs heading into this fixture as they continue to search for their first win of the tournament.
Naseem Shah bowled his way to the headlines following a spectacular show against Karachi Kings. He picked up five wickets for 20 runs in 3.3 overs, registering the best figures in his T20 career. This is also the best spell by a Quetta Gladiators bower in PSL history.
