Match Prediction – SS vs AS, 16th Match BBL 2021/22 – Who Will Win Today’s Match?
Sydney Sixers will take on Adelaide Strikers in the 16
th
match of the Big Bash League 2021. Both sides are in the top half of the table.
Sydney Sixers have gotten off to a fantastic start in the competition. They began their title defense with a 152-run mauling of Melbourne Stars. It was followed by a 14-run win as well as a 44-run loss against Hobart Hurricanes. However, Sixers recovered from the loss quickly and bounced back on track to defeat Melbourne Stars by seven wickets yet again. Josh Philippe has been in incredible form throughout the season and he unfortunately had to finish the last match on 99 not out.
Adelaide Strikers, on the other hand, have played three matches and have suffered two defeats already. They began their campaign with a 2-run loss to Melbourne Renegades. However, they showed plenty of character to win the reverse fixture against Renegades by 49 runs. Strikers couldn’t sustain the winning momentum and were defeated by Perth Scorchers in their most recent game. The Strikers bowling unit lacked tooth as Colin Munro ended up scoring a century against them. Despite Matt Short’s valiant efforts, they could hardly get going in the run-chase.
As far as the head-to-head record is concerned, Sydney Sixers hold the advantage. The defending champions have won nine games while Adelaide Strikers have managed five victories. Sixers have also been dominant in the last six fixtures between the two teams, winning all of them! They would love to keep extend their six-game winning streak here. The last time Adelaide Strikers won against Sydney Sixers was on December 28, 2017.

Who will win today’s match?
Sydney Sixers have already demonstrated their quality and resolve in the opening few fixtures of the Big Bash League. The defending champions are in no mood to drop their guard. They haven’t been beaten by Adelaide Strikers since 2018 and are the favourites to win this contest as well.
Team News
Sydney Sixers will have to figure out a way to cope with a spate of injuries going forward. Pacer Tom Curran has suffered a back injury and will miss the remainder of the season. He has already flown back home to UK. Steve O’Keefe strained his calf in the recent match against Melbourne Stars and is unavailable in the ‘short-term.’ Meanwhile, Ben Manenti has also been ruled out of the Big Bash League after a neck stress fracture.
Fawad Ahmed made his debut for Adelaide Strikers in the last game. The almost 40-year-old leg-spinner will look to form a formidable partnership with teammate Rashid Khan in this game.
fun88in.in Tips
Sydney Sixers have the wind blowing in their sails after an extremely positive start to their campaign. The Sixers have not only been flamboyant, but they’ve also shown the resolve, skill and patience to deal with tough phases during matches. Several players have already proven to be match-winners and the chemistry within the team is an added advantage.
The Adelaide Strikers bowling unit fell apart in the last match. This comes as a surprise given that they have star spinner Rashid Khan leading the unit. Strikers will be in deep trouble if they fail to pick up important wickets against Sydney Sixers.
Game changers for Sydney Sixers vs Adelaide Strikers, 16th Match BBL
Josh Phillippe and Moises Henriques have been nothing short of incredible for the Sixers. It will be interesting to see how the Sixers deal with the absence of Tom Curran. Chris Jordan might take up added responsibilities.
When it comes to Adelaide Strikers, all eyes will be on Rashid Khan and Matt Short. It goes without saying that the duo will need support from their teammates if they wish to pull off an upset here.
Who will be the best match bowler?
Rashid Khan will hold plenty of cards for Adelaide Strikers. Although the star Afghan spinner has been underwhelming so far this season, one cannot doubt his incredible talent. Rashid has picked up 75 wickets in 53 BBL matches. He also has a stellar average economy rate of 6.51.
Who will win today’s man of the match?
Josh Philippe has been the standout player for Sydney Sixers in the competition. He’s likely to be the Man of the Match contender here as well along with Moises Henriques.
Who will be the best batsman for Sydney Sixers?
Josh Philippe has been the most in-form batter in Big Bash League since the start of the season. In four matches, he has amassed 259 runs at a mind-boggling average of 86.33. Philippe is currently the leading scorer in the competition and he also has a great strike rate of 156.97. The youngster missed his maiden BBL century by just a single run in the last game and he’d love to go all the way here!
Who will be the best batsman for Adelaide Strikers?
Matt Short has been the leader of the batting unit as far as Adelaide Strikers are concerned. He has scored 124 runs in three matches and is currently the seventh-highest scorer in the Big Bash League. Short has an average of 41.33 and also has a tremendous strike rate of 151.22
