Team Lineup
Match Prediction IPL 2021: CSK vs KKR, Final Preview
The final of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is here and the title-clash is a repeat of the 2012 IPL Final. An in-form Chennai Super Kings (CSK) square off against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Dubai International Fun88 Stadium. Last time, these two teams squared off in a final, they played out a nail-biting final over finish which resulted in KKR’s maiden title win in 2012.
CSK have been supremely consistent in this IPL 2021. The MS Dhoni-led side came into the playoffs with three back to back losses before they won the all-important Qualifier 1. Overall, they finished with nine wins from 14 games in the league phase. The openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis have been magnificent and have amassed 1150 runs together combined in this tournament. The middle-order has been a touch inconsistent but MS Dhoni’s match-winning six-ball 18 might inspire some confidence. Meanwhile, the bowlers have fared decently.
Meanwhile, it’s been a stunning turnaround for KKR in this UAE leg. They came into this second half of the IPL with just two wins and five losses. Their chances of qualifying for the playoffs were slim but they have been absolutely magnificent. The Eoin Morgan-led side returned with seven wins from nine games in this second half. They became only the third side to have reached the final after finishing outside the top-two ever since the playoffs were introduced in 2011. KKR’s batting has been top-notch, especially at the top of the order. Meanwhile, their bowling has been excellent as well and the spinners have led the charge.
This is the ninth time that CSK have reached the final. They have won the IPL title as many as three times (second-highest) in the history of this Indian T20 League. On the other hand, KKR have played just two finals (2012 and 2014) and they ended up winning both. CSK are leading the head to head record. They have 16 wins while KKR have eight wins.

Team News
Team news: Chennai Super Kings
CSK are unlikely to make any changes and are expected to play the same XI.
Team news: Kolkata Knight Riders
There has been no update on Andre Russell’s fitness. However, if he is fit for this mega clash, he will most probably replace Shakib Al Hasan.
Predicted XI
Chennai Super Kings:
Ruturaj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis, Moeen Ali, Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Josh Hazlewood
Kolkata Knight Riders:
Shubman Gill, Venkatesh Iyer, Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana, Eoin Morgan (c), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Shakib Al Hasan/Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Lockie Ferguson, Shivam Mavi, Varun Chakravarthy
Faf du Pleassis Man of Match @9.00
Faf du Plessis: Faf du Plessis is batting really well in this competition. The veteran South African batsman has been consistent throughout this season. He has amassed 547 runs at an average of 42.07 and a strike-rate of 137.09. He has recorded five half-centuries but one of them have come in the UAE leg. Du Plessis has been getting some solid starts regularly but he hasn’t really converted those starts. Hence, a big score could be around the corner and CSK would love it if that comes in the final.
Lockie Ferguson to take 2+ wickets @2.20
Lockie Ferguson
: Lockie Ferguson has been superb with the ball in this IPL 2021. The New Zealand fast bowler has returned with 13 wickets from just seven games. He averages 12.92 with the ball and strikes once every two overs in this tournament. He has consistently given KKR some crucial breakthroughs. With the CSK batting line-up top-heavy and the middle-order a little wobbly, Ferguson will be the key to KKR’s plans with the ball. He can rattle the batters with sheer pace but he has some excellent variations as well.
