Team Lineup
Match Prediction IPL 2021: DC vs KKR, Qualifier 2 Preview
A slightly stuttering Delhi Capitals (DC) are up against an in-form and a red-hot Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Both teams have contrasting momentums coming into this game. Delhi head into this game on the back of a couple of successive losses while KKR have won three games in a row.
DC have had a phenomenal season but they got their tactics slightly wrong at the back end of the first Qualifier against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). They’ve now lost two games which finished in the final over. However, the Rishabh Pant-led side have been very consistent throughout this season. The top-order has fired while the likes of Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer have stepped up in the middle-order when needed. Marcus Stoinis’ absence has created that void and DC have constantly searched for that balance in the absence of the Australian all-rounder. But their bowling has been absolutely top-notch. The pace trio has performed superbly while the spinners have been very good too.
On the other hand, it’s been a magnificent turnaround for KKR. They had a win-loss record of 2-5 when they landed in the UAE for the second leg. Not many gave them a chance but they have come storming back. Eoin Morgan and co have played some exhilarating fun88 and they have won six out of the eight games in the UAE this season. The spinners (Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy) have led the charge with the ball and Lockie Ferguson has complemented them beautifully. Meanwhile, the top-order has been excellent for KKR and they have done the bulk of the scoring.
DC have had the upper hand over KKR in the last few years. Delhi have won five and KKR have won just two in the last seven games between these two sides.

Team News
Team news: Delhi Capitals
There is still no clarity over Marcus Stoinis’ fitness. DC have played with three overseas players for most part of this game and Tom Curran was preferred as the fourth overseas option in the Qualifier 1. If Stoinis is fit, he will replace Curran else DC might go into this game with the same XI.
Team news: Kolkata Knight Riders
Andre Russell has been out of the side for a while now. No update has been provided on his return either. But if he is fit, the West Indian all-rounder might replace Shakib Al Hasan.
Predicted XI
Delhi Capitals:
Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Shreyas Iyer, Shimron Hetmyer, Tom Curran/Marcus Stoinis, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Avesh Khan, Anrich Nortje
Kolkata Knight Riders:
Shubman Gill, Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana, Rahul Tripathi, Eoin Morgan (c), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Shakib Al Hasan/Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Lockie Ferguson, Shivam Mavi, Varun Chakravarthy
Key players
Shimron Hetmyer
: Shimron Hetmyer has been in solid touch in this tournament and he has donned the finisher’s role really well for Delhi. The West Indian left-hander hasn’t really got those big scores but he has made some very crucial contributions. In this UAE leg, Hetmyer has got 141 runs at a strike-rate of 151.61. Overall, he has returned with 225 runs at an average of 37.50 while striking at 167.91 in this 2021 edition of the IPL.
Shimron Hetmyer Man of Match @15.00
Shubman Gill
: Shubman Gill has roared back into form in the last few games. The KKR opener has accumulated four 25+ scores in his last five innings (scores of 30, 7, 57, 56 and 29). He has been setting the tone at the start of the innings and has been providing KKR with some solid starts. Venkatesh Iyer has slowed down a touch in the last few games but Gill has ensured that KKR have not fallen behind. Moreover, with the Sharjah pitch slow and low, Gill will be even more critical at the top of the order against a strong Delhi bowling attack.
S. Gill to Score 50+ @3.75
