Hobart Hurricanes will be locking horns with Adelaide Strikers on 15th December 2020 at the University of Tasmania Stadium. This will be a revenge game for Adelaide Strikers as they lost the 5th game of the Big bash against the Hobart Hurricanes at Hobart by 11 runs. Batting first, Hobart Hurricanes put 174 runs on the board with a loss of 5 wickets. Coming back from the T20I series against India, D’arcy Short scored 72 runs from 48 balls with the help of 6 fours and 4 sixes. Strikers’ trump card Rashid Khan failed to show his magic and only took a wicket for 38 runs in his 4 overs spell.
Chasing the target of 175, Adelaide Strikers got bamboozled by the Faulkner-Botha pair and lost their top-order for 36 runs. It was Daniel Worrall’s 62 runs knock from 39 balls that helped Strikers put 163 runs at the end. His 10th wicket partnership of 61 runs with Danny Briggs couldn’t help Strikers win their opening game of the Big Bash League, 2020.
On the other hand, Adelaide Strikers will try their best to open their points account after losing the only game they played yet. York Park has been great for Adelaide Strikers. They have won both the games they played at this venue whereas Hurricanes have registered a single win in 4 matches they have played here.
So far, Hobart Hurricanes had a perfect start this season. They have won 2 out of the 2 games and currently in the second spot in the points table with 7 points. Hurricanes will open with D’arcy Short who received the Man of the Match trophy against Adelaide Strikers. Their top-order has been terrific in the first two games. Therefore Hurricanes will continue to keep the faith in them. It looks like Macalister wright will be replaced by David Moody to boost the middle order. All-rounder James Faulkner will lead the bowling department with Johan Botha. He has taken 5 wickets for 43 suns and will try to topple Sixers’ Dwarshuis to take the top spot in the most wickets table this season.
Adelaide Strikers won’t be looking forward to making any changes in the team after losing the first game. The series is still young to find the perfect combination for Peter Siddle’s Strikers team. They have a perfect 100 percent winning rate at the venue. Matt Renshaw played a knock of 33 runs in 27 balls against the Hurricanes to stabilize the innings. He would look to find help from the openers on the other side to put a good total to put on the board. Also, they have Rashid Khan who would love to bowl to D’Arcy Short who outsmarted him in the first game. Wes Aggar and Danny Briggs will team up with the captain to restrict the hosts and open the points account.
Hobart Hurricanes: Peter Handscomb (C & WK), D’Arcy Short, Will Jacks, Colin Ingram, Tim David, David Moody, James Faulkner, Johan Botha, Nathan Ellis, Scott Boland, Riley Meredith
Adelaide Strikers: Peter Siddle (C), Phil Salt, Jake Weatherald, Matt Renshaw, Harry Nielsen, Jonathan Wells, Ryan Gibson, Rashid Khan, Daniel Worrall, Wes Agar, Danny Briggs
Tim David – Tim David has been the key to the Hurricanes’ middle order. His match-winning performance against Sydney Sixers and a cameo of 21 runs in 13 balls against Strikers have put him on the selectors’ radar.
James Faulkner – Faulkner will be eyeing the top spot in the leading wicket-taker list. He has taken 5 wickets so far and has been economical so far.
Matt Renshaw – Matt Renshaw anchored the innings for Strikers in the first game. He is one of the most experienced guys on the Strikers team.
Rashid Khan – World number 1 leg-spinner will be pumped to take the centre stage after getting battered by the Hurricanes openers in the first game. Known for his comebacks, Khan will be the biggest threat to Hurricanes to look after.
