Melbourne Renegades vs Brisbane Heat Match Preview

In match number 49, it is Melbourne Renegades taking on the Brisbane Heat at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne. These are two teams in the bottom half of the points table but Brisbane Heat are not too far away from the second-placed Perth Scorchers.

Like last year, Melbourne Renegades are all set to finish at the wooden spoon. Even if they win both their remaining games (and also win both the Bash Boost points), they will reach 21 points and the seventh-placed Adelaide Strikers are on 20 points with three games to go. The Renegades have been able to win just three games throughout the season. Thus, Aaron Finch and his men will be looking to end the season on a high.

On the other hand, Brisbane Heat have blown hot and cold constantly throughout this season. They lost three successive games at the start before getting on a roll and winning four out of five. Then, it’s been up and down ever since. Thus, the Heat haven’t really hit the consistency button yet with two games to go, they are still in with a chance of making it to the top five.

As far as the head to head record is concerned, Melbourne Renegades are well in the lead against Brisbane Heat. Melbourne Renegades have won 10 games while Brisbane Heat have won just four. There was a point when Melbourne Renegades won seven games in a row against Brisbane Heat.

Team news: Melbourne Renegades

Noor Ahmad suffered a side strain ahead of the Renegades’ last game against Melbourne Stars and was ruled out. He is likely to miss this game as well. Meanwhile, Rilee Rossouw is still recovering from his hamstring injury.

Team news: Brisbane Heat

Marnus Labuschagne and Mitchell Swepson have returned to the side after the conclusion of the Test series against India. Morne Morkel has recovered completely and has played a few games. He seems to be a good addition to the pace attack as well.

Predicted XI

Melbourne Renegades : Aaron Finch (c), Shaun Marsh, Sam Harper (wk), Jake Fraser-McGurk, Mackenzie Harvey, Beau Webster, Imad Wasim, Jack Prestwidge, Josh Lalor, Zak Evans, Peter Hatzoglou

Brisbane Heat : Chris Lynn (c), Max Bryant, Joe Denly/Joe Burns, Marnus Labuschagne, Jimmy Peirson (wk), Lewis Gregory, Jack Wildermuth, Mark Steketee, Morne Morkel, Mitchell Swepson, Matthew Kuhnemann/James Bazley

Key players

Aaron Finch : It’s been a BBL season to forget for Aaron Finch. All he has mustered in this BBL 10 is a highest score of 39 and a total of 169 runs at am average of 15.36. His strike-rate is low too and stands at 113.42 in this tournament. In fact, in the last seven innings, Finch has not crossed 20 even once. And that has played a massive part in the way Melbourne Renegades have gone about this season. Thus, Finch has been a big player for a long time for the Renegades and if they are to finish the season on a high, their skipper needs to deliver.

Aaron Finch Top Melbourne Batsman – 3.25 at Betway

Chris Lynn : Chris Lynn was injured after the first few games earlier this season and he missed almost three weeks of action. However, from the time he came back, the Brisbane Heat skipper has looked in lethal form. In fact, Lynn has not recorded a single score under 20 in this BBL 10. He has scores of 20, 69, 30, 48, 56, 50 and 28 in this tournament – 300 runs from seven innings at an average of 42.85 and a strike-rate of 147.78. He will once again be a key player for the Brisbane Heat as they push for a spot in the knockouts.

Chris Lynn Top Brisbane Batsman – 2.80 at Betway
