A wobbling Hobart Hurricanes run into a rampant Perth Scorchers side in match number 37 of this 10 th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL). While the Hobart Hurricanes have won more games and are placed above the Perth Scorchers on the points table, the latter have some excellent momentum on their side.

Perth Scorchers didn’t have the greatest of starts as they had four back to back winless games. However, Mitchell Marsh and his men have turned things around superbly. They have won four games in a row and are really taking giant strides in this BBL 10. In fact, all of their wins have been by big margins and their last win over Sydney Thunder was the closest game which the Scorchers won by 17 runs.

On the other hand, Hobart Hurricanes were going well and it seemed smooth sailing before they hit a couple of roadblocks. They have lost their last two games (both chasing) and suddenly, there seems to be a slight wobble. They are still among the top teams this season and with 19 points from nine games, they are very much in contention for a place in the knockouts. However, another loss or low might turn things upside down. Thus, the Peter Handscomb-led side will be looking to return to winning ways.

Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes are almost even stevens when it comes to head to head record between these two sides. Perth Scorchers have won seven games while the Hobart Hurricanes have won six. There was a point when Perth Scorchers had a six-game winning streak over Hobart Hurricanes who in turn upstaged that into a four-match winning streak.

Team news: Perth Scorchers

Sam Whiteman, Cameron Gannon and Liam Guthrie were released from the bio-bubble protocols before the last game as they take part in the Alcohol.Think Again Premier fun88in.in competition. The 16-man squad is unlikely to go through any changes for this game.

Team news: Hobart Hurricanes

Riley Meredith was ruled out 15 minutes prior to the game against Sydney Thunder as he injured himself warming up for the game. It was Nick Winter who took his place in the XI. His availability for the next clash is uncertain and he is being assessed. The rest of the side is expected to wear a similar look.

Predicted XI

Perth Scorchers : Jason Roy, Liam Livingstone, Josh Inglis (wk), Colin Munro, Mitchell Marsh, Ashton Turner (c), Aaron Hardie, Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye, Jason Behrendorff, Fawad Ahmed

Hobart Hurricanes : Ben McDermott (wk), D Arcy Short, Dawid Malan, Colin Ingram, Tim David, Peter Handscomb (c), Macalister Wright, Nathan Ellis, Scott Boland, Sandeep Lamichhane, Nick Winter

Key players

Jhye Richardson : Jhye Richardson has been absolutely magnificent in this BBL 10 season. He has been the one of the most impressive fast bowlers on display in this tournament. The Western Australian fast bowler is bowling with great speeds and aggression. Moreover, irrespective of the situation and time, he has delivered every time he has come on to bowl. Richardson is currently the leading wicket-taker and he has picked up 17 wickets at an average of 10.47. He is bowling with an economy of 6.43 and has a bowling strike-rate of 9.7.

D’Arcy Short : D’Arcy Short has been one of the big disappointments in this tournament so far. The left-handed opening batsman just hasn’t got going. Barring that 72 he scored in the second game, he has hardly produced anything of note. However, Short has been bowling well and twice this season, he has picked up three wickets in an innings. It may well be a matter of time before he finds his form back with the bat and he will continue to be the key for the Hobart Hurricanes.
