Post Match Summary Punjab vs RR, Match 32

You can never take your eyes off the IPL, and Punjab vs RR was a perfect example of the excitement the tournament provides.

Evin Lewis continued his fine Caribbean Premier League (CPL) form (426 runs in 11 innings with an average of 47.33) and started RR well with 36 from 21, 34 runs coming purely from boundaries.

Look out for Liam Livingston. His 25 off 17 is an indication of things to come, and it took an exceptional catch from Fabian Allen to get him out. The England international is coming off a highly successful 100 Tournament, where he was the highest runs scorer and a top score of 92* off 40 balls.

Livingstone also smashed England’s Fastest EVER T20I 100 off just 42 balls in July 2001 against Pakistan.

Mahipal Lomror is another one to watch. He came on to hit some brutal sixes, and Kevin Pieterson thinks he will be selected for the Indian Team soon enough.

Punjab Kings Innings

  • Spinners weren’t able to extract much spin and RR took full advantage
  • Shami has collected 61 percent of his wickets in between overs 17 to 20
  • It took Arshdeep’s best IPL figures of 5 for 32 to restrict Punjab below 200.
  • Seem bowlers delivered best for KL Rahul

Rajasthan Royal Innings

  • Catches win matches and RR had already dropped 3 within the first 6 overs – KL Rahul was dropped on 2, 19, and 48
  • Mayank Agarwal reached his 2000th IPL runs during his innings of 67
  • This was the 4th time Rahul and Mayank put up a 100 partnership
  • Punjab really should have won this game failing at the last hurdle.

Match Prediction – PBKS vs RR, 32nd Match IPL 2021 – Who Will Win Today’s Match?

Punjab Kings have always been the weaker team and Rajasthan Royals have always had the upper hand in this fixture. But after returning from the ban handed to them, the Royals took some time to find their footing, allowing the other teams, including the Kings to grow stronger, which led to the Royals suffering major defeats in 2018 and 2019.

In match number 32 of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Punjab Kings take on Rajasthan Royals at the Dubai International fun88in.in Stadium. Both these teams have been inconsistent of late and managed to win just three games in the first half of the season – results that find them languishing in the middle of the points table.

Rajasthan Royals are currently placed fifth on the points table after playing seven games. Their batting has been a touch inconsistent, and they have got only three scores of 50+ in this season (two hundreds).

Apart from Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler, none of their other batsmen really got going. But they have the likes of Evin Lewis, Glenn Phillips, and Liam Livingstone coming in for the second half, and all of them have been in excellent form.

However, their bowling could be the key, with the likes of Chetan Sakariya, Mustafizur Rahman, and Chris Morris putting in highly impressive performances earlier this year.

Punjab beat Rajasthan in a thrilling high-scoring match the last time these two sides faced each other on April 12, 2021.

On the other hand, Punjab Kings have been top-heavy as always and have been heavily reliant on KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, and Chris Gayle to do the bulk of the scoring.

Their bowling has been lacklustre and seems to lack bite. Mohammed Shami was their best bet in the first half, and he will, most likely, be the key once again. Apart from him and Arshdeep Singh, none of the bowlers took more than five wickets during the initial phase of the tournament.

With three wins from eight games, Punjab need to win at least four games in order to stand a chance of making it to the top four.

Team News

Punjab Kings

The Australian pace duo of Riley Meredith and Jhye Richardson pulled out of the second half of this IPL, and Nathan Ellis and Adil Rashid were announced as replacements. Ells is most likely to walk straight into the starting XI, while Aiden Markram or Moises Henriques are set to replace Dawid Malan in the XI. Additionally, KL Rahul is also expected to return to the XI and is likely to replace Prabhsimran Singh.

Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals will be without their three England stars – Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, and Jofra Archer, and Australian bowler, Andrew Tye, has also pulled out. Glenn Phillips, Tabraiz Shamsi, Evin Lewis, and Oshane Thomas have been named as replacements. Either of Glenn Phillips or Evin Lewis is likely to open the batting with Liam Livingstone fitting into the middle-order.

Predicted XI

Punjab Kings: Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul (c & wk), Chris Gayle, Aiden Markram/Moises Henriques, Deepak Hooda, Shahrukh Khan, Harpreet Brar, Chris Jordan, Nathan Ellis, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohammed Shami

Rajasthan Royals: Glenn Phillips/Evin Lewis, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson (c & wk), Liam Livingstone, Riyan Parag, Anuj Rawat/Shivam Dube, Rahul Tewatia, Chris Morris, Kartik Tyagi, Chetan Sakariya, Mustafizur Rahman/Tabraiz Shamsi

Key players

KL Rahul : KL Rahul has been supremely consistent in the IPL. His strike-rate has been questioned quite a bit in the last couple of seasons, but he has constantly churned out runs at the top of the order for Punjab.

Rahul has amassed 2253 runs with at an average of 56.33

The Kings’ captain has continued to impress since 2018

This season, Rahul has already scored 331 runs in seven innings which includes four half-centuries. He will be the key at the top of the order for Punjab once again as they look to turn things around in the second half of the IPL campaign.

Chris Morris : Chris Morris may not have really been in the spotlight in the first half of this 14th edition of the IPL, but he was very consistent and quietly went about his job.

14 wickets from seven games with an average of 16

The South African all-rounder will play a key role for RR

Out of the three games that RR won, one victory came courtesy of Morris’ four sixes.
