Match Prediction IPL 2021: RR vs SRH, Match 28 Preview

Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have had a familiar run in this IPL 2021 so far. Not only are the two teams reeling at the bottom of the points table, they have struggled big time for consistency as well. Both teams have lost key players as well. Hence, it is imperative for both sides to turn things around quickly else things which are already on a downward spiral could slide further.

RR have a mere four overseas players to choose from and they are all playing in the XI. They might be hampered with the players’ availability but what’s been disappointing has been their inability to utilise the available resources. David Miller is being wasted at No. 5 and Shivam Dube has often struggled in the middle. Hitters like Chris Morris also haven’t been used enough.

There have been some positives for RR. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been shown promise in the last couple of games. Jos Buttler has threatened to go big. Morris and Chetan Sakariya have been amongst the wickets while the others have been pretty expensive. Thus, it may just be about being a lot more consistent and using their resources a lot better for RR.

On the other hand, nothing has gone right for SRH. The David Warner-led side have lost five out of six games so far and are at the bottom of the points table. Their middle-order woes seem to see no end. While Manish Pandey at 3 and Kane Williamson at 4 might give them solidity but they need a little more from their lower middle-order from the senior pros like Kedar Jadhav and Vijay Shankar. David Warner’s scratchy form hasn’t helped their cause either.

The SRH bowling has lacked bite and apart from Rashid Khan, there is barely anyone who has looked like taking big wickets. The absence of T Natarajan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar has hurt them quite a bit as well. Thus, the 2016 IPL champions are in a hole and need to find their way up very soon else they will be on the brink of elimination in another couple of games.

Team News

Team news: Rajasthan Royals

RR have brought in Rassie van der Dussen as a replacement player. However, the South African is in quarantine and will not be available for this game. Apart from him, there are only four other overseas players in their squad. Thus, despite the loss, RR may not make any changes to their playing XI.

Team news: Sunrisers Hyderabad

T Natarajan has been ruled out of the entire season due to a knee injury and he underwent a surgery as well. Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has struggled with a thigh niggle and SRH will be hoping that their ace fast bowler gets fit in time for this game. If he does, he might replace Sandeep Sharma. Moreover, Abdul Samad has been unfit as well and he has remained out of action for a few games.

Predicted XI

Rajasthan Royals: Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson (c & wk), Shivam Dube, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Riyan Parag, Chris Morris, Jaydev Unadkat, Chetan Sakariya, Mustafizur Rahman

Sunrisers Hyderabad: David Warner (c), Jonny Bairstow (wk), Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, Vijay Shankar, Rashid Khan, Jagadeesha Suchith, Bhuvneshwar Kumar/Sandeep Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed, Siddarth Kaul

Key players

Chris Morris : Chris Morris has been the chief wicket-taker for RR this season. The South African all-rounder tends to go for a few runs but he is constantly amongst the wickets. He has picked up 11 wickets in seven games so far and has conceded runs at an economy of 8.86. Every time RR need a wicket, Sanju Samson has invariably turned to Morris. Thus, he will be crucial with the ball once again. Moreover, RR need to find a way to use Morris’ batting ability well too. He has batted just four times so far and he struck an unbeaten 36 to win RR the game against Delhi.

Rashid Khan : The SRH bowling has relied heavily on Rashid Khan this season. In the absence of two key pacers, the pressure and the expectation from Rashid have gone up several notches. The Afghanistan superstar leg-spinner has delivered more often than not and has gone wicketless just once in six games so far. Overall, he has taken nine wickets at an economy rate of 6.16 so far. Thus, he will once again be the key for SRH. Moreover, Rashid has a solid record against the likes of Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson.
