Match Prediction – SRH vs DC, 20th Match IPL 2021 – Who Will Win Today’s Match?

In match number 20, it is the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) who take on the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. These two sides have had contrasting starts to their 2021 campaigns. SRH have a win-loss record of 1-3 so far while Delhi have the exact opposite record, winning three and losing just one.

After three losses in a row, SRH finally got over the line. It was the fourth successive chase but this time it was just 121 and they did it with ease. The David Warner-led side should’ve chased down the targets in their previous two games as well but middle-order collapses saw them lose games from comfortable positions. The middle-order batting is still a concern but Kane Williamson’s inclusion does add some teeth and solidity. Meanwhile, the bowling did really well in the last game against Punjab Kings and kept taking wickets all the way through. The death bowling is a still issue that has come back to haunt them in the previous games and they will look to get better at that.

On the other hand, DC have been excellent in this tournament so far. Their only loss came against Rajasthan Royals in a final over finish where the Rishabh Pant-led side almost defended 147. The batsmen have been excellent and they showed in the last game against Mumbai that they can adapt well to the sluggish nature of the Chepauk surface as well. The senior bowlers like Kagiso Rabada and Ravichandran Ashwin haven’t really hit their straps with the ball and Delhi will be hoping that the experienced duo roar back strongly.

However, Delhi are up against a team they don’t have a great head to head record against. Hyderabad have won 11 out of the 18 games these two sides have played.

Team News

Team news: Sunrisers Hyderabad

T Natarajan is set to be ruled out of the remainder of the IPL 2021 due to a knee injury. Khaleel Ahmed has replaced the Tamil Nadu left-arm pacer in the SRH line-up in the last couple of games. Meanwhile, there are some murmurs around Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s fitness and he may be struggling with a thigh injury. Thus, Sandeep Sharma may come in place of the Meerut fast bowler.

Team news: Delhi Capitals

Axar Patel has completed his quarantine and has completely covered from COVID-19. The left-handed all-rounder has joined the DC camp as well. However, the team management may not rush him back into the playing XI.

Predicted XI

Sunrisers Hyderabad: David Warner (c), Jonny Bairstow (wk), Kane Williamson, Virat Singh, Vijay Shankar, Abhishek Sharma, Kedar Jadhav, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar/Sandeep Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed, Siddarth Kaul

Delhi Capitals: Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Steven Smith, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Marcus Stoinis, Shimron Hetmyer, Lalit Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Amit Mishra, Avesh Khan

Key players

Kane Williamson : Kane Williamson slotted into the SRH playing XI for the first time against Punjab. He may have scored just 16 off 19 balls but he remained unbeaten and took SRH over the line after that solid start. While the openers have blazed away at the top for SRH, Williamson at three adds some solidity. With the pitch likely to be slow once again, the New Zealand skipper’s ability to manuver the ball in the middle overs will be the key.

Amit Mishra : Amit Mishra has played only a couple of games in this IPL 2021. He conceded 27 runs in the three overs that he bowled in the game against CSK at the Wankhede. But once Delhi landed in Chennai, the wily old leg-spinner was always going to be a critical component in the side and he proved his worth. Mishra returned with figures of 4/24 from his four overs and broke the back of the MI batting line-up. Thus, he will be absolutely vital for DC once again.
