Match Prediction – SRH vs RR, 40th Match IPL 2021 – Who Will Win Today’s Match?

As we go into the new IPL season, SRH vs RR is a battle between teams who have only ever tasted IPL success once. The Sunrisers started slowly but won their first title in 2016 and are now pushing to add another to that. The Rajasthan Royals won their title back in 2008, which feels a long time ago and they are desperate to try and get back to winning ways.

It is match number 40 in this 14 th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Dubai International fun88in.in Stadium. Both teams are coming into this game on the back of a loss and these are the two teams placed at the bottom.

SRH are almost eliminated from the race for the playoffs and they have only a mathematical chance. They have lost as many as eight games and have just one win to their name this season. They are six points away from the seventh-placed RR. For the Kane Williamson-led side to qualify, a lot of results to go their way and they need to win all their remaining games, that too, by considerable margins. SRH’s batting has flopped big time while the bowling has remained inconsistent. In the last game, they couldn’t chase 126 against Punjab Kings.

On the other hand, RR haven’t been consistent enough either. They have eight points (four wins and five losses) but their net run rate of -0.319 ensures they are seventh on the points table. Sanju Samson and co snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in the game against Punjab but they were beaten convincingly by the table-toppers Delhi Capitals. The RR batting line-up has failed, especially the middle-order. The bowling has been decent but they would want to be a little more consistent. RR are still alive in this competition but need to turn things around quickly.

The head to head record between SRH and RR stands at 7-7 at the moment.

Team News

Sunrisers Hyderabad

T Natarajan has been infected with COVID-19 and Vijay Shankar was his close contact. Both of these players are not available for selection. Despite the loss, SRH may not make any changes to their line-up. They could consider bringing in Jason Roy but David Warner could get another go or two.

Rajasthan Royals

Evin Lewis and Chris Morris had niggles and were forced to miss the game against Delhi Capitals. It is a short turnaround and RR will be sweating over the fitness of their two overseas stars. If the duo are fit, Lewis might replace David Miller and Morris could come in for Shamsi.

Predicted XI

Sunrisers Hyderabad: David Warner, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Kane Williamson (c), Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, Abdul Samad, Jason Holder, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed

Rajasthan Royals: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Evin Lewis/David Miller, Sanju Samson (c & wk), Liam Livingstone, Mahipal Lomror, Riyan Parag, Rahul Tewatia, Kartik Tyagi, Tabraiz Shamsi/Chris Morris, Chetan Sakariya, Mustafizur Rahman

Key players

Mustafizur Rahman : Mustafizur Rahman has been quite consistent with the ball in T20 cricket this year and he has constantly been amongst the wickets. The Bangladesh left-arm pacer has returned with 43 wickets from 33 games and has an economy rate of 6.95. In the IPL, he has taken 10 wickets from nine games. Mustafizur bowled a terrific spell in the last game against DC where he had figures of 4-0-22-2. Thus, he will once again be the key, especially at the death.

David Warner : David Warner has been an absolute beast in this Indian T20 extravaganza and has been a match-winner for SRH at the top of the order. The Australian left-handed opener has got in excess of 500 runs in every season that he has played since the start of 2014. However, this year has been different. He has mustered only 195 runs at an average of 24.37 and has a strike-rate of 107.73. Warner has been a central figure at the top of the order for SRH and his form is very critical to their chances.
