Match Prediction – SRH vs RCB, 6th Match IPL 2021 – Who Will Win Today’s Match?

In game number six of this 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

For the second season in a row, RCB managed to win their first game of the season. It came against their nemesis Mumbai Indians (MI) which will be a big boost for Virat Kohli and co. The bowling didn’t really start off well but the death bowling which was a big worry came to their rescue as Harshal Patel took a fifer and the other bowlers chipped in well.

With the bat, almost all players got a hit and the big names like Kohli, AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell came to the party and made vital contributions. Consistency has been an issue for them and thus, RCB will want to continue to improve and string a few wins together early on in the tournament.

On the other hand, SRH who have been supremely consistent in the last few years didn’t really get going. The bowling which is their strong suit conceded 187 on a dry Chepauk wicket.

The top-order couldn’t give them the start while chasing a big score and despite fifties from Manish Pandey and Jonny Bairstow to go with a brisk cameo from Abdul Samad, SRH fell 10 runs short. However, SRH may not worry too much after one loss and they have most bases covered in their line-up. They are a quality side and can bounce back.

Team News

Team news: Sunrisers Hyderabad

Kane Williamson was surprisingly excluded from the SRH XI in the game against KKR. However, head coach Trevor Bayliss revealed that the New Zealand captain who suffered an elbow injury  a month ago needs more time to get match fit. Apart from him, there are no other injury concerns in the SRH camp.

Team news: Royal Challengers Bangalore

Devdutt Padikkal who tested positive for COVID-19 on the 22 nd March reached the RCB bio-bubble on the 7 th of April. The medical team advised him rest for the first game. However, he will be available for this game. Meanwhile, Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson have reached Chennai and are in quarantine at the moment.

Predicted XI

Sunrisers Hyderabad: David Warner (c), Jonny Bairstow, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar, Abdul Samad, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Sandeep Sharma

Royal Challengers Bangalore: Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli (c), Rajat Patidar, AB de Villiers (wk), Glenn Maxwell, Daniel Christian, Washington Sundar, Kyle Jamieson, Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal

Key players

AB de Villiers : Year after year, season after season, game after game, there is this one constant in the RCB setup and that is AB de Villiers. For the umpteenth time in his IPL career, the South African superstar took RCB home. He did not play a single competitive game since the end of the 2020 season of the IPL but it barely seemed like that as de Villiers smoked a stunning 27-ball 48 to help the three-time finalists hunt down 160 in a final-ball thriller. There is absolutely no doubt that he will once again be the key for RCB.

David Warner : David Warner failed to fire in the first game against KKR as SRH crumbled to a 10-run defeat. His contribution at the top of the order is absolutely vital and he has been a run machine for the Hyderabad franchise since the start of the 2014 season. He scores a half-century or more in a little more than two innings for SRH.

Moreover, while representing SRH, Warner’s record against RCB is stupendous. He has amassed 593 runs at an average 593 runs (seven fifties and one hundred) at an average of 59.30 and a strike-rate of 165.64 against them while donning the Orange jersey.
