It is match number 11 in this 10 th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) as the Sydney Sixers square off against the Adelaide Strikers at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. These two teams have had one win and one loss each and are third and fourth respectively on the points table.
Sydney Sixers were good in the first game of the tournament and were in dominant positions before they allowed Hobart Hurricanes to come back and win the game. However, the defending champions bounced back strongly as they absolutely thrashed the Melbourne Renegades in their second game. They racked up 205 batting first and shot the Melbourne Renegades out for a mere 60. Moreover, in both the games, Sydney Sixers managed to gain their Bash Boost point and that helped them to five points so far.
On the other hand, Adelaide Strikers also had a close loss against Hobart Hurricanes in their first game as they failed to chase down 175. But they came back well and beat the same side comfortably. The Alex Carey-led side won by five wickets as they hunted down 147 with eight balls to spare.
Team news: Sydney Sixers
Jason Holder has linked up with the Sydney Sixers squad and is available for this game. He may well make his BBL debut in this game against the Adelaide Strikers. The rest of the squad remains the same and the defending champions have no injury worries at all.
Team news: Adelaide Strikers
Adelaide Strikers have added a couple of players to their squad and named a 14-man squad for this game. Harry Conway who suffered from concussion in the warm-up fixture against India has been cleared to play. Meanwhile, Liam Scott has been named in the squad for the first time and may well make his BBL and T20 debut. Ryan Gibson has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury and he will head home.
Sydney Sixers : Josh Philippe (wk), Jack Edwards, James Vince, Daniel Hughes (c), Jordan Silk, Daniel Christian, Jason Holder, Ben Dwarshuis, Steve O’Keefe, Ben Manenti, Gurinder Sandhu
Adelaide Strikers : Philip Salt, Jake Weatherald, Matt Renshaw, Alex Carey (wk & c), Jonathan Wells, Rashid Khan, Liam Scott, Daniel Worrall, Peter Siddle, Wes Agar, Danny Briggs
Rashid Khan : The Afghanistan leg-spinning superstar has had a sedate start to this tournament so far. Rashid Khan has returned with figures of 1/38 and 1/27 in the two games so far. With the bat, he registered a duck in the first game. However, he has been a prolific performer for Adelaide Strikers in the last few years. Moreover, there have been very few occasions where he has failed in successive games. Thus, Rashid will be the one to watch out for.
James Vince : The England top-order batsman has looked in sublime touch in the first two games of this BBL 10. James Vince scored 67 and 17 against Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Renegades respectively. He has a strike-rate of 147.36 and he has been very fluent with his stroke-play even though he couldn’t kick on and get a big score in the second game. Hence, Vince may well be the batsman to watch out for.
